The Beach!

Suissevale is famous in Moultonborough for its private beach.  It’s on a small island down on the water front.  Like I’ve said a few times, my home is only 162 steps from this beach.  It’s a great recreation area for everyone to enjoy.

Excellent long, sandy beach

Sandy Beach:

There is a long sandy beach where everyone gathers to soak up some sun and build sand castles.  It’s very well maintained and refreshed many times a year.  On holidays and weekends, it’s a very exciting social place to see everyone enjoying themselves.  On weekdays, it’s a relaxing place to lay back and enjoy the breeze off the water.

Swimming Area:

One of the swimming platforms

There is a roped off swimming area off the entire length of the beach.  It goes out almost 100 yards to some deep water just off shore.  There are also 2 floating platforms out on the water for resting and jumping.  A buoyed rope line keeps boats and jet skis from wondering in.  It also sets very good boundaries for your kids to obey. There is a roped off swimming area off the entire length of the beach.  It goes out almost 100 yards to some deep water just off shore.  There are also 2 floating

Picnic tables and grills

Bar-b-q Grills:

There are several Bar-b-q grills anchored to the ground.  These all use charcoal.  They are very popular on the weekends, so planning early will get you a good spot.

Picnic Tables

More picnic tables and the gazebo

There are many picnic tables available around the beach island.  These are also very popular on the weekends and should be claimed as early as possible.  I know on the 4thof July, people stake their claims around 5am.  They are next to the grills.

One of our guests and his kids, fishing

Fishing Points

At the end of the island is a rocky shore. Great for catching fish.  Last year, we caught more fish than I’d ever caught before.  Amazing!  It is far from the swimmers so there is no danger of hurting anyone.  It’s also quite shady and pleasant on sunny days.  Be careful though.  There are lots of big rocks.  I’ve was fishing and fell on my ankle once.

Beach Playground

Kids love the playground

There is a beach playground for the kids.  Very well maintained with lots of different activities.  It’s near very safe, shallow water so nice to leave the kids to enjoy themselves.

Pretty exciting playground

BathroomsBathrooms by the Beach

There are well-maintained Portable Bathroom units on the island.  They are very nice and perfectly acceptable for use.  They are placed on a wooden platform that protects the environment from any issues or spills that could possibly occur.  That platform also keeps the surrounding area clean and hygienic.

Volleyball/Soccer Area:

Next to the boat docks, there is a sandy area where people will play volley ball or soccer.  Bring your own net and ball.  Excellent place to play.

The rare boat docks! 25-year waiting list!

Boat Docks:

These are along the back of the island.  They are for residents with permits.  My aunt has been waiting for a slot for 15 years.  I think she’s 4thon the list now!  They are very rare and hard to get.

Parking:

Parking lot

There is a parking lot at the beach, but I have never needed to use it, as the house is so near that we just walk down. I keep a parking permit on a hanger next to the front door, in case you ever do need to bring a car down. Be sure to bring the permit (and please take care not to lose it!).

Hi…your place looks beautiful. I was looking to rent a place on the water for a week, but it looks like the water is close by and has a lot of ammenities. Is there a deck that you can sit outside to read, etc.? Can you walk to the beach area? Let me know …. thanks!!! Dianne

Hi Dianne! Thanks for your inquiry. The water is very close by–it’s one minute walk down (162 steps–we counted!). It’s great, because we never have to bring the car and look for parking. And if we forget anything, it’s no problem, we can just walk back to the house and get it!

As for places to sit outside, the house has two: one is a screen porch at the back of the cottage. The second is a sun deck on the front of the house. You can see photos here: https://shackistan.com/screen-porch/

Thanks again, and email me at brian.hachez@gmail.com for anything!
